Refrigerator repaired by E&A technicians
01

Refrigerator repair

A refrigerator that stops cooling puts a week of groceries at risk, so we treat it as urgent. We repair French-door, side-by-side, top-freezer, bottom-freezer and built-in refrigerators, including the high-end models found in many Northern Virginia kitchens.

Most cooling problems come down to a handful of parts: the evaporator or condenser fan, the defrost heater and thermostat, the start relay, or dirty condenser coils. Leaks usually trace back to a blocked defrost drain or a failed water inlet valve. The technician tests each one, explains what failed and gives you the price before any work starts.

Problems we fix

  • Not cooling, or not cold enough
  • Freezer cold but the fridge section warm
  • Water on the floor or under the crisper drawers
  • Clicking, buzzing or a loud fan
  • Frost or ice building up
  • Water dispenser not working

Brands we see most: Sub-Zero, Thermador, GE Monogram, KitchenAid, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, Frigidaire.

02

Freezer repair

Upright freezers, chest freezers and built-in freezer columns keep food safe only while they hold temperature. If yours is running warm, frosting over or running nonstop, call before the food starts to thaw.

We check the thermostat and temperature sensors, the defrost system, the door gasket and the compressor's start components, then repair the part that failed. For a freezer that keeps icing up, we find out why so the frost doesn't come back.

Problems we fix

  • Not freezing, or food softening
  • Thick frost on the walls or back panel
  • Running constantly, or cycling on and off
  • Door not sealing
  • Loud humming or clicking

Brands we see most: Sub-Zero, Frigidaire, GE, Whirlpool, Electrolux, U-Line.

Ice maker repaired by E&A technicians
03

Ice maker repair

We repair the ice maker in your refrigerator or freezer, and standalone undercounter ice machines from brands like Scotsman, U-Line and Sub-Zero.

No ice usually means a frozen fill tube, a failed water inlet valve, a clogged water filter or a faulty ice maker module. Small, hollow or cloudy cubes point to low water pressure or a filter that's due. Undercounter machines also need a clean condenser and water system to keep making clear ice.

Problems we fix

  • No ice, or very little
  • Small, hollow or cloudy cubes
  • Water leaking from the ice maker
  • Ice jammed in the bin or dispenser
  • Ice that tastes or smells off

Brands we see most: Scotsman, U-Line, Sub-Zero, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG.

Washer repaired by E&A technicians
04

Washer repair

When a washer stops mid-cycle, the laundry piles up fast. We repair front-load, top-load and stacked washers from every major brand, from Speed Queen and Maytag to Samsung, LG and Electrolux.

A washer that won't drain usually has a blocked pump filter or a failed drain pump. One that won't spin often needs a lid switch, door lock, belt or motor coupling. Shaking that gets worse each week points to worn shock absorbers or drum bearings, which are worth fixing before they damage the tub.

Problems we fix

  • Won't drain, or water left in the drum
  • Won't spin
  • Leaking water on the floor
  • Loud banging or shaking
  • Won't start, or the door stays locked
  • Musty smell from the drum or door seal

Brands we see most: Speed Queen, Maytag, Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, Electrolux, GE.

Dryer repaired by E&A technicians
05

Dryer repair

We repair gas and electric dryers. A dryer that runs without heating, or needs two cycles to dry one load, costs you time and energy every week.

No heat on an electric dryer usually means a heating element, thermal fuse or thermostat; on a gas dryer it's often the igniter or the gas valve coils. Long drying times are very often caused by a clogged vent, which is also a fire risk, so the technician checks the airflow as part of the diagnosis. Squeaks and thumps point to drum rollers, the idler pulley or the belt.

Problems we fix

  • Runs but doesn't heat
  • Takes too long to dry
  • Squeaking, thumping or grinding
  • Won't start
  • Shuts off before the load is dry

Brands we see most: Whirlpool, Maytag, LG, Samsung, Electrolux, Speed Queen, GE.

Dishwasher repaired by E&A technicians
06

Dishwasher repair

A dishwasher that leaves water in the bottom or gritty dishes on the rack is usually a quick fix. We repair built-in dishwashers from Bosch, KitchenAid, Fisher & Paykel and every other major brand.

Standing water usually points to a clogged filter, a blocked drain hose or a failed drain pump. Dishes that come out dirty can mean a blocked spray arm, a faulty inlet valve or a heater that's stopped working. Leaks are often a worn door gasket or a loose connection under the tub.

Problems we fix

  • Won't drain
  • Dishes not getting clean
  • Leaking onto the floor
  • Won't start, or stops mid-cycle
  • Not drying
  • Error code on the display

Brands we see most: Bosch, KitchenAid, Fisher & Paykel, Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, Thermador.

Range or stove repaired by E&A technicians
07

Range, stove and cooktop repair

We repair gas and electric ranges, gas stoves and cooktops, from everyday freestanding ranges to professional-style models by Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Bertazzoni and Zline.

A gas burner that clicks but won't light usually has a dirty or cracked igniter, a faulty spark module or a clogged burner port. Electric burners that won't heat often need a new element, burner switch or terminal block. We check every gas connection we work on before we leave. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call your gas company first.

Problems we fix

  • Burner won't light, or keeps clicking
  • Burner won't heat, or only on high
  • Uneven or yellow flame
  • Knob or touch control not working
  • Oven and cooktop both dead

Brands we see most: Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Bertazzoni, Zline, GE, Samsung, LG.

Oven repaired by E&A technicians
08

Oven repair

We repair gas and electric ovens, wall ovens and double ovens. If your oven won't heat, bakes unevenly or won't hold its temperature, we find out why.

An electric oven that won't heat usually has a failed bake or broil element. A gas oven that won't heat often has a weak igniter, which can glow without ever opening the gas valve. Uneven baking points to the temperature sensor or the convection fan, and a door that stays locked after self-clean usually needs a door lock motor or switch.

Problems we fix

  • Won't heat, or heats slowly
  • Burns or undercooks food
  • Temperature doesn't match the setting
  • Won't turn on
  • Door locked after self-clean

Brands we see most: Wolf, Thermador, Viking, KitchenAid, GE Monogram, Bosch, Frigidaire.

Wall oven repaired by E&A technicians
09

Wall oven repair

Built-in wall ovens are part of the kitchen's cabinetry, which makes them well worth repairing. We repair single, double and combination wall ovens from Wolf, Thermador, Viking, GE Monogram, KitchenAid and every other major brand.

A wall oven that won't heat usually has a failed element or temperature sensor, and in a double oven one side can fail on its own. A door that stays locked after self-clean needs a door lock repair, and a noisy or stopped cooling fan should be fixed before the heat damages the controls.

Problems we fix

  • One oven or both won't heat
  • Door locked after self-clean
  • Cooling fan loud or not running
  • Touch controls or display not working
  • Temperature off, or uneven baking
  • Door sagging or not sealing

Brands we see most: Wolf, Thermador, Viking, GE Monogram, KitchenAid, Bosch, Jenn-Air.

Microwave repaired by E&A technicians
10

Microwave repair

We repair over-the-range, built-in and drawer microwaves. A built-in or over-the-range model is worth fixing far more often than a small countertop one.

No heat usually comes down to the magnetron, the high-voltage diode or capacitor, or a door switch. Sparking can be a worn waveguide cover. Microwaves hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged, so internal repairs should always be left to a technician.

Problems we fix

  • Runs but doesn't heat
  • Sparking or arcing inside
  • Turntable not turning
  • Control panel dead or not responding
  • Light or vent fan not working

Brands we see most: GE, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Samsung, LG, Bosch, Thermador.

Microwave repair: full guide

Range hood repaired by E&A technicians
11

Range hood repair

A working range hood keeps smoke, grease and steam out of your kitchen. We repair wall-mount, island and under-cabinet hoods, including Zephyr, Viking and Wolf.

A fan that won't run usually needs a motor, capacitor or switch. Weak suction often means clogged grease filters or a blocked duct. Lights and controls that stop working are usually a switch or control board repair.

Problems we fix

  • Fan won't run
  • Weak suction, smoke left in the room
  • Loud rattling or humming
  • Lights not working
  • Buttons not responding

Brands we see most: Zephyr, Viking, Wolf, Thermador, Bertazzoni, Zline.

Garbage disposal repaired by E&A technicians
12

Garbage disposal repair

A garbage disposal that hums, jams or leaks under the sink is a common kitchen call, and usually a simple one.

Humming without turning usually means a jam or a seized motor. A disposal that does nothing may just need its reset button, or a new switch or motor. Leaks from the sink flange or the side of the unit often mean worn seals; a cracked body means the unit should be replaced, and we'll tell you which it is.

Problems we fix

  • Hums but won't turn
  • Jams or stops mid-use
  • Leaking under the sink
  • Won't turn on at all
  • Slow draining or a bad smell

Brands we see most: all major brands.

Garbage disposal repair: full guide

Trash compactor repaired by E&A technicians
13

Trash compactor repair

Built-in trash compactors are less common than they used to be, which makes finding someone to repair one harder. We still service them.

A compactor that runs but won't compact usually has a worn drive gear or chain. A drawer that sticks or won't open often needs new rollers or tracks, and a unit that won't start may need a new drawer safety switch or key switch.

Problems we fix

  • Runs but won't compact
  • Drawer stuck or hard to open
  • Won't start
  • Loud grinding
  • Bad odor even with a new bag

Brands we see most: Whirlpool, KitchenAid, GE, Jenn-Air.

Do you repair high-end and built-in appliances?

Yes. We repair premium and built-in appliances including Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Viking, GE Monogram, Bertazzoni and Fisher & Paykel, as well as everyday brands like Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE and Frigidaire.

Do you repair gas appliances?

Yes: gas ranges, stoves, ovens, cooktops and dryers. We check every gas connection we work on before we leave. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas company before calling us.

Is my appliance worth repairing?

How soon can a technician come?

Same-day service is available across Northern Virginia, depending on the day's schedule. Calling early in the day gives you the best chance.

How much does an appliance repair cost?

Every repair starts with a diagnosis in your home. The technician explains what failed and gives you the price before any work begins, so you decide. Call us for the current service call fee.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes. Parts and labor on the repair we performed are covered for 60 days. If the part we replaced fails in that time, call us and we'll make it right.
