Wall oven repaired by E&A technicians in Northern Virginia

Single, double and combination wall ovens

We repair built-in wall ovens of every kind: single and double wall ovens, combination units with a microwave or speed oven above the oven, convection and French-door wall ovens, electric and gas, from Wolf, Thermador, Viking, GE Monogram, KitchenAid, Bosch, Jenn-Air, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Samsung and LG.

A wall oven is built into the cabinetry. Some of its parts are reached from the front and others by easing the oven partway out of its opening, which our technicians do with care for your cabinets. They test the elements, sensor, cooling fan, door lock and controls, and show you what failed before replacing anything.

Common problems

Why your wall oven stopped working.

The wall oven problems we're called for most, what usually causes them, and what you can safely check before we arrive.

Wall oven not heating, or only one oven heats

In a double wall oven, each oven has its own bake and broil elements and its own temperature sensor, so one can fail while the other keeps working. A burned-out element, a failed sensor or a relay on the control board is the usual cause; on the less common gas wall ovens, it's often a weak igniter.

Try this firstMake sure the oven isn't in Sabbath, demo or lock mode, and that the clock is set.

Wall oven door locked after self-clean

Self-clean runs a wall oven at 800°F or more for hours, and built into a cabinet, that heat has fewer places to go. The door lock motor or switch is a common failure afterwards, and sometimes a thermal fuse trips as well.

Try this firstLet it cool completely, then switch it off at the breaker for a minute and try again.

Wall oven cooling fan loud or running nonstop

Wall ovens have a cooling fan that moves heat away from the controls and the cabinetry. A worn fan motor gets noisy, and one that has stopped lets the electronics overheat, which can damage the control board. A fan that never stops usually means a faulty sensor or switch.

Try this firstMany fans keep running for a while after the oven turns off. That part is normal.

Wall oven touch controls or display not working

Heat is hard on electronics. A touch panel that ignores you, a blank display or a control that resets itself usually needs a new touch panel, control board or power supply, often after the cooling fan has let things run hot.

Try this firstSwitch the oven off at the breaker for a minute to reset the control.

Wall oven temperature off, or baking unevenly

A temperature sensor that has drifted, a weak element, a failed convection fan or a door that doesn't seal tightly can all leave a wall oven running hot or cold. Many models can be recalibrated once the sensor has tested good.

Try this firstCheck it with an oven thermometer at 350°F after 20 minutes.

Wall oven door sagging or not closing

Wall oven doors are heavy, and their hinges and springs wear. A door that drops open, won't close square or lets heat out onto the cabinet face needs new hinges or a new gasket, a quick repair that also protects the cabinetry.

Try this firstDon't lean on an open oven door or rest heavy dishes on it.

Repair or replace

Is it worth fixing?

An honest answer, and the price, before any work starts.

Wall ovens typically last about 15 years, and they are usually worth repairing. A replacement has to fit the same cabinet opening, and if a new model's cut-out size is different, the cabinetry has to change too.

Elements, sensors, door locks, hinges and cooling fans are worth replacing at almost any age. Control boards cost more, and on an older single wall oven the technician will help you weigh a new board against a new oven, including the cost of fitting it.

FAQ

Wall oven repair questions

Still unsure? Call (571) 268-5367 and ask a real person.

Is it worth repairing a wall oven?

Usually, yes. A wall oven is built into the cabinetry, and a new one has to fit the same opening, which can mean cabinet work if the sizes don't match. Most wall oven faults come down to one part, and the technician gives you the price before any work begins.

Can you repair one oven in a double wall oven?

Yes. Each oven in a double unit has its own elements and sensor, so we test the one that has failed and repair it, and check the other while we're there.

Do you repair microwave and wall oven combinations?

Yes. We repair both parts of a combination unit, the microwave or speed oven on top and the wall oven below, from Wolf, Thermador, GE Monogram, KitchenAid, Bosch and other brands.

Why does my wall oven's fan keep running after I turn it off?

Most wall ovens keep the cooling fan running after cooking until the controls have cooled, which is normal. If it runs for hours or never stops, a sensor or the control is usually at fault, and we can test it.

How much does wall oven repair cost?

It depends on what has failed. The technician diagnoses your wall oven in your home, explains the problem and gives you the price before any work begins, so you decide. Call (571) 268-5367 for the current service call fee.
